As I said on another article, the DMR fascinated me and what better experiment than trying to build a DMR radio by myself ?? The idea, however, also wanted to involve the concept of HOT-SPOT so without an RF part but directly on the net with a WIFI connection. After some internet research I found some examples and projects on these INTERNET RADIO but nobody that really excites me, then I tried to make my project.
The radio is made around the AMBE 3000 chip
and its ability to decode DMR data streams and more.
Since the chip is difficult to work with, I have chosen an already built board.
In this way it is enough to connect it to an arduino and with the correct software make everything work.
In the project, an arduino controls the DMR decoding together with AMBE chip, a Raspberry PI Zero W acts as a PI-STAR front-end and a second arduino acts as an arbitrator between the two worlds and an intelligent 5-inch touch screen NEXTION lcd.
At the end, radio works and the video is a witness:
I abandoned the project or rather I froze it because it is too expensive in its replication. In fact, the AMBE3000 board, 2 Arduino cpu, a raspberry, the LCD a BF amplifier and the cabinet costs almost 300 euros, an unacceptable thing given the pressing price war imposed by Asians in this field. But I wanted to show it and maybe give someone a hint for new ideas.
